Which Norwex Mop Pad Should I Use? Complete Mop Pad Comparison

Are you overwhelmed just looking at all the Norwex Mop Pad options? I know—there are A LOT! Norwex has all these “moptions,” and how do you know which ones are the RIGHT ones for you?? Well, today, I am going to help you figure that all out. After using the Norwex Mop System for more than 17 years, I have definitely figured out which pads I reach for most often, which ones are better for specific jobs, and which ones you may—or may not—actually need.

And here’s the good news: You probably don’t need every Norwex Mop Pad. If you’re just getting started, I would begin with the Dry Superior Mop Pad and Wet Mop Pad. Those are the two that will handle the majority of your everyday floor cleaning. From there, I would look at your own home and the cleaning challenges you have. If you have lots of tile, you may really appreciate the Tile Mop Pad. If you have fur babies who shed, take a serious look at the Chenille Dry Mop Pad. And if you have tall windows that are impossible to reach, that’s where the Window Cloth Mop Pad can be SO handy.

Although, if you eventually decide you need them ALL, I certainly won’t judge you! I do have one of each at my house!

Which Norwex Mop Pad Should I Use?

If you just want the quick answer, here it is:

First: The Norwex Mop System Comes in Three Sizes (XL, Large, Mini)

Before we dive into the individual mop pads, please know that the Norwex Mop System comes in three different sizes: XL, Large and Small/Mini. Our top seller, hands down, is the Large, or standard, size. The Large mop pads are 52 cm x 15 cm, while the Mini pads are 34 cm x 15 cm. That means you will want to make sure you’re purchasing the mop pad that corresponds with the size of your mop base. The XL only has two of the mop pad options and is quite a lot larger. It definitely covers ground more quickly for large spaces!

There are some various mop color options, so if color is important to you, take a look at the “Rose Gold” Nordic Naturals Norwex mop system versus the gray/black system. The XL only comes in the Yellow Dry Mop Pad (shown in my size comparison photo on the left) and Blue Wet Mop Pad colors. The mini and large come in the black/gray, and the rose gold is only available in the standard large mop size.

Dry Superior Mop Pad: Best for Everyday Sweeping

This pad is perfect for doing a quick sweep of your floors. I use this one almost daily to pick up the smallest dirt particles left on my floors. This replaced “sweeping” with a broom or having to plug in the vacuum, etc. The microfiber picks up fine dust incredibly well—and I am always impressed by how much it collects, even right after someone has vacuumed! The fiber is statically charged and honestly picks up dust better than my vacuum. This is the pad I reach for when I simply want to sweep the floors without pulling out a vacuum or traditional broom. For most people purchasing their first Norwex Mop System, this is one of the two pads I would recommend starting with.

This comes in a few different color options. The Nordic Naturals Champagne color doesn’t have the yellow trim but it will say “DRY” on the trim. The gray Superior Dry Mop Pads both have yellow to indicate “Yellow, Sunny, DRY” at a quick glance, and blue to indicate “Blue, Water, Wet” so they are easy to tell apart at a glance.

What is the Dry Superior Mop Pad best for?

I especially like it for:

• Everyday dust and dirt
• Crumbs
• Hair
• Quick kitchen cleanups
• Hard floors
• Getting underneath furniture
• Those times when you look at the floor and think, How did it get dirty AGAIN?

Here’s an odd one. We used to have someone come in and help with house cleaning. And every time, she was using the DRY mop pad, WET. I kept letting her know that it’s much harder to push/move the mop, but she said she liked it even better than the wet mop pad… and truth be told, it’ll give you a bit more of a workout, if you’re looking for that. So as I often say, there are no Norwex police out there and you can flex the use of the products to your needs.

I use my dry mop frequently, and because the pads are reusable, I can simply clean it and use it over and over, and it is quick and easy to sweep up the never-ending floor debris. (Is that just our house that has that?!)

Wet Mop Pad: My Everyday Floor-Cleaning Pad

This product is one of the first things that sold me on Norwex.

The idea that I could clean my floors using the microfiber and water instead of constantly adding floor cleaner truly blew my mind! And I LOVED that I could no longer feel the “tackiness” or stickiness that the other cleaners left behind in chemical residue. Not to mention, I prefer not to absorb unnecessary chemicals into my skin… just sayin’! 🙂

I have used the Wet Mop Pad on hardwood, tile, vinyl and bamboo floors, as well as for cleaning walls. Every time, I am always so impressed. Sometimes I will have something stuck on the kitchen floor that I think will NOT come off, but with just a bit more elbow grease—or what I call my “foot maneuver” of pushing down slightly on the top of the mop—it usually comes right off.

How wet should the Norwex Wet Mop Pad be?

Here’s something important:

You do NOT need to use a lot of water. Just a little dampness goes a long way.

That’s especially important when you’re cleaning flooring that shouldn’t have excessive water sitting on it (i.e. wood floors, laminate, etc). If you’re purchasing your first Norwex Mop System, the Wet Mop Pad is the other pad I consider an essential starting point. Between the Dry Superior Mop Pad and Wet Mop Pad, you’ve got the majority of everyday floor cleaning covered.

Tile Mop Pad: Do You Really Need It?

I was a doubter on this one. Not gonna lie. I did NOT believe I would benefit from having a separate pad for tile. I fully thought that my Wet Mop Pad was doing just fine on ALL my floors. Well…. I stand corrected.

What I like about the Tile Mop Pad is that it has extra nylon fibers mixed in with the microfiber, so it has a little extra scrubbing power. That can be especially helpful getting into the grooves and grout on tile floors. Again, you don’t need to soak the floor. A little water goes a long way.

Wet Mop Pad vs. Tile Mop Pad: What’s the difference?

This is probably the easiest way to decide: If you have primarily smooth floors or wood floors and need an everyday cleaning pad, I’d start with the Wet Mop Pad.

If you have a lot of tile, grout, texture or floors that tend to need more scrubbing, I think you’ll appreciate the additional scrubbing power of the Tile Mop Pad.

Do you NEED both? Not necessarily, unless you have some wood floors (use the wet mop pad) and some tile. But as someone who originally thought the Tile Mop Pad was unnecessary, I will happily admit that I changed my mind after actually using it!

Chenille Dry Mop Pad: My Pick for Pet Hair

In truth, I use this one less often than my regular Dry Superior Mop Pad—but when I need it, it does its job REALLY well. This one looks a little like a Muppet to me with all its extra-long chenille microfiber. I use it on baseboards and walls, but I MOST recommend this one for my customers who have fur babies who shed.

It has proven AMAZING at sweeping up pet hair! The longer fibers also make it useful on floors or walls that have texture because they can reach into some of those grooves and uneven areas.

There is also a newer Dust Mop Pad with MUCH finer fibers which many of my pet-owning friends with heavy shedders swear by. It’s not my personal favorite because I feel like the Chenille Mop Pad washes up better long term, but I also don’t have a pet that sheds (in the house)… we won’t talk about my ranch cats, who absolutely do shed, but don’t have house privileges. And again, I have customers who LOVE this thing.

Which Norwex Mop Pad is best for pet hair?

If pet hair is one of the biggest cleaning challenges in your home, the Chenille Dry Mop Pad is the one I would look at first. You can also use the regular Dry Superior Mop Pad for everyday sweeping, but the Chenille is especially useful when you’re dealing with lots of hair. But see my comments above. And as a dog owner myself, I understand the battle, although Maple is half Aussie/half Poodle, so she doesn’t shed too much.

Window Cloth Mop Pad: Yes, I Use My Mop on My Windows!

YES!! I use this on my WINDOWS!! I love the versatility Norwex has created by making so many of its products multifunctional. The Window Cloth Mop Pad attaches to your mop base so you can reach those HIGH windows in your house that would otherwise have you dragging out a ladder. Use it with a little water to clean and polish smooth surfaces. Or clean the dirt off first with a damp Wet Mop Pad and THEN dry with the Window Cloth Mop pad. This also works great for “polishing” high gloss flooring that shows streaks easily. It’s like an “Ernie” for your floors. I also love using a Window Cloth on the short handheld system for doggy nose art—otherwise known as all those nose prints our dogs lovingly leave on the glass. I prefer the mini size for the hand-held.

Do you need the Window Cloth Mop Pad?

I wouldn’t necessarily put this in the same “start here” category as the Dry and Wet Mop Pads.

It’s definitely more of a specialty pad. But if your home has tall windows, large glass doors or other hard-to-reach smooth surfaces, it can make those jobs MUCH easier. Remember, you can LOCK the Norwex mop base into a stationary position for doing windows and walls, etc. I show this in my Norwex mop videos. 🙂

What About the Norwex Rubber Broom Attachment?

Technically, this isn’t a mop pad—but since we’re talking “moptions,” we need to talk about it!

The Rubber Broom Attachment attaches to the Norwex Mop System and is another option I especially like for homes with hair and pets on fabric or carpet. One side has flexible rubber bristles that can be used on floors and carpets to collect dirt and hair, while the other side functions as a squeegee.

Don’t Forget the Norwex Rubber Brush

I would HIGHLY recommend that you also get the Rubber Brush with your Norwex Mop System. And don’t confuse this with the Rubber Broom Attachment we just talked about. The Rubber Brush is a small handheld brush that I use to clean debris from my mop pads between uses. There is a newer version that clips on to the mop handle, which you can purchase with the mop system, if you choose.

Instead of washing your Dry Mop Pad every single time it picks up dust, hair and debris, you can brush over the pad with the Rubber Brush and put that debris right into the trash. I also love the Rubber Brush for furniture and rugs—especially when dealing with pet hair. It’s one of those inexpensive little Norwex tools that ends up being WAY more useful than you initially expect.

How to Wash Norwex Mop Pads

One of my favorite things about the Norwex Mop System is that the mop pads are reusable. Instead of buying disposable floor-cleaning pads over and over and throwing them away, you can wash your Norwex Mop Pads and keep using them. I wash mine in the washing machine along with my other Norwex microfiber.

Which Norwex Mop Pads Do I Recommend Starting With?

For most people, I would start with:

1. Dry Superior Mop Pad — for everyday sweeping, dust and debris.

2. Wet Mop Pad — for everyday floor washing.

Those are my two basics.

Then customize from there.

Have lots of tile or grout? Add the Tile Mop Pad.

Have pets that shed? Consider adding the Chenille Dry Mop Pad or the Duster Mop Pad—and definitely take a look at the Rubber Broom Attachment and Norwex Rubber Brush!

Have tall windows or lots of glass? The Window Cloth Mop Pad may be worth adding.

That’s really the beauty of the system. You don’t have to own everything at once. Start with the pieces that solve the biggest cleaning problems in YOUR home.

Which Norwex Mop Pad Is Best for Different Floors?

Another question I get frequently is whether you need a different pad for every type of flooring. Generally, no. I’ve personally used my Norwex Mop System on hardwood, tile, vinyl and bamboo over the years.

The Wet Mop Pad is my everyday choice for most washable hard-floor surfaces, while the Tile Mop Pad gives me some additional scrubbing power when I want it. Of course, flooring manufacturers can have very specific care instructions—especially with specialty hardwood, natural stone and newer flooring materials—so always follow the care instructions for your particular flooring.

What If My Norwex Mop Is Leaving Streaks or Isn’t Cleaning Well?

If you already own the Norwex Mop System and something just isn’t working like you expected, don’t immediately assume you need a different mop pad.

Sometimes the problem is actually:

• Too much water
• Residue already on the floor from past cleaners used (this is the top one I find)
• Laundry products coating the microfiber
• A mop pad that needs a deeper cleaning
• Hard-water buildup
• Using the wrong pad for the job

For most homes, I recommend starting with the Dry Superior Mop Pad and Wet Mop Pad. The Dry pad handles everyday sweeping and debris, while the Wet pad handles your regular floor washing.

I have personally used mine on hardwood floors for years. The key is that the pad should be damp rather than soaking wet. Because flooring finishes and manufacturer recommendations vary, always follow the care instructions for your particular floor.

Do I need floor cleaner with the Norwex Wet Mop Pad?

For my normal everyday floor cleaning, I use the Wet Mop Pad with water rather than automatically adding floor cleaner. That’s actually one of the things that originally sold me on the Norwex Mop System! I personally love that it leaves NO residue. With that said, if you feel you need or want a safe floor cleaner to use with it, use diluted Norwex Multipurpose Everyday Hard Surface Probiotic/Enzyme Cleaner. (Wow- that was a mouthful!) This can be VERY diluted, but watch my Norwex basics video for why this can be amazing paired with the mop, especially for households with a lot of foot traffic from humans and fur babies. Some people dilute it and put it in the Norwex Mop Spray Attachment.

Can Norwex Mop Pads go in the washing machine?

Yes. I machine wash my Norwex Mop Pads along with other appropriate Norwex microfiber. Avoid fabric softeners and dryer sheets, which can leave residue on the microfiber.

What’s the difference between the Norwex Rubber Brush and Rubber Broom Attachment?

The Rubber Brush is a small handheld tool that I use to remove debris from mop pads, furniture, rugs and other surfaces.

The Rubber Broom Attachment attaches to the Norwex Mop System and can be used on larger floor and carpet areas for dirt, hair and debris. It also includes a squeegee side.

They sound similar, but they serve very different purposes.
