If you’re brand new to Norwex—or maybe you’ve had a friend talking about it for years and you’re finally wondering what all the fuss is about—WELCOME! You are in the right place.
I’ve been using, sharing and teaching about Norwex since 2009, and after 17+ years I can tell you there is a LOT I could teach you. But here’s the good news: you don’t need to learn it all today, and you definitely don’t need to buy everything at once!
In fact, one of the reasons I’m creating this page is because my website has grown right along with my Norwex business. There are years and years of product reviews, cleaning tips, videos, comparisons, tutorials and answers here, which is wonderful… until you’re brand new and wondering, “Okay, Sonya—but where in the world do I START?”
So let’s start right here.
My goal isn’t to convince you that you need every Norwex product. I want to help you understand what makes Norwex different, which products might make the biggest difference in YOUR home, how to use the products you choose, and where to go when you want to learn more.
Consider this your Norwex roadmap.
First Things First: What IS Norwex?
At its simplest, one of the biggest things that drew me to Norwex all those years ago was the opportunity to simplify the way I cleaned our home while dramatically reducing the number of cleaning chemicals and disposable products we were using.
Before Norwex, I had a cleaner for this, another cleaner for that, disposable products I continually had to replace, and plenty of bottles underneath my sinks. Norwex introduced me to a completely different concept: mechanical cleaning.
Instead of relying on a chemical cleaner to do all the work, Norwex microfiber is designed to physically pick up and remove what you’re cleaning from the surface. For so many of the everyday cleaning jobs around my home, that means I can clean with high-quality microfiber and WATER.
Yes, really. Just water.
Now, does that mean I never use a cleaner? Absolutely not! If you’ve spent five minutes around here, you know I love some of Norwex’s specialty cleaners, enzymes and other products when the job calls for them. But one of the biggest mindset shifts with Norwex is realizing that you don’t need to spray a chemical cleaner onto every surface in your house just because you want that surface to be clean.

If You’re Brand New to Norwex, Watch This First
If I could sit down with you at my kitchen counter and show you Norwex for the very first time, this is where I would start.
Norwex has returned to its Norwegian roots with what we call The Norwegian Way, and I love how simply it demonstrates the foundational idea behind the products. Rather than handing you a catalog and saying, “Here are hundreds of things you can buy,” I’d much rather show you what makes the cleaning system different and let you actually SEE it work.
Watch that first, and suddenly a lot of what you’ll see throughout this website will make much more sense.
And fair warning: once you realize how much you can clean with microfiber and water, you may find yourself walking around your house wondering why there are seventeen different bottles underneath your kitchen sink.
What Norwex Products Should I Start With?
This may be one of the questions I’ve answered more than almost any other during my 17+ years with Norwex:
“Sonya, what do I actually NEED?”
And my answer isn’t, “Everything in the catalog!”
I want you to start with the products that will make the biggest difference in your actual life.
For most people who have never experienced Norwex before, I want them to understand the microfiber first. The EnviroCloth® and Window Cloth are the classic starting combination I have affectionately called the “Bert & Ernie Cloths” for years. The damp EnviroCloth does the cleaning, and the dry Window Cloth follows behind on shiny surfaces like glass, mirrors, faucets and stainless steel.
Those two little cloths can replace an astonishing number of things you may currently be using around your home.
From there, however, what I recommend depends on YOU. If you have acres of hard flooring, we’re probably going to talk about the Mop System. If laundry is the bane of your existence, we may head there next. If hard water is making your shower doors look like frosted glass, I have some thoughts. If you spend half your life in the kitchen, that’s probably where we’re going to focus.
That’s also why I don’t love giving every new customer the exact same giant shopping list. Your home, priorities and budget matter.
How Does Norwex Microfiber Actually Work?
This is where Norwex starts making a lot more sense.
Traditional cleaning often relies heavily on chemical action: apply a cleaner, let the chemistry work, then wipe it away. Norwex microfiber allows us to use much more mechanical cleaning, where the physical structure of the microfiber helps lift and remove soils from the surface.
That’s one reason you’ll hear me talk so much about using the cloth correctly. I want the microfiber damp—not dripping wet—and I want to use some friction as I wipe the surface. Then I rinse, agitate the cloth against itself, wring it out well and continue cleaning.
Once you understand that concept, you stop thinking of your EnviroCloth as simply “a fancy cleaning rag.” The microfiber itself is part of the cleaning system.

And when it comes time to wash your cloths, PLEASE don’t overcomplicate it:
Wash them in the washer. Dry them in the dryer.

I’ve Got My Norwex Products…Now What?
THIS is where I really want this website to become useful to you.
One of the things I’ve learned after teaching thousands of customers and Consultants over the years is that buying a great product is only half the equation. You also need to know how to use it! I don’t want a Norwex product sitting underneath your sink because nobody ever showed you what to do with it.
So instead of wandering through hundreds of blog posts trying to figure out where to go next, start with the area of your home you want to tackle.
Cleaning Your Kitchen with Norwex
Your kitchen is one of the busiest rooms in your home, which means it’s also one of the easiest places to start seeing the benefit of products you can use again and again. From countertops and appliances to dishes, produce, cutting boards and food storage, there are a LOT of ways I use Norwex in my kitchen.

Cleaning Your Bathroom with Norwex
We just got VERY real with this one.
I took you into a bathroom that genuinely needed cleaning, pulled out the black light AND protein swabs, and then worked my way through the room from cleanest to dirtiest. Mirrors, granite countertops, sink, high-touch areas, toilet, shower, tub, grout and floors—we tackled it.

Cleaning Your Floors with Norwex
If you have a lot of hard flooring, the Norwex Mop System is absolutely one of the products I’d encourage you to investigate. My original mop has been with me for years and years, which is one reason I encourage people to think beyond the initial price and consider longevity and cost per use.
I typically dry mop first to collect dust, hair and debris, then switch to the appropriate wet mop pad for the floor-cleaning portion. No bucket of dirty sloshing water required—which, if you knew how much I disliked mopping before Norwex, is a VERY good thing.

Laundry with Norwex
Laundry is another place where your individual needs matter. Maybe your biggest issue is stains. Maybe it’s odor. Maybe you’re trying to simplify the products you’re using. Or maybe you have a house full of boys, towels, ranch clothes, workout clothes and all the other things that somehow reproduce in the laundry basket overnight.
Norwex now has several different laundry options, which means there isn’t necessarily one detergent that is automatically “best” for everyone. I’ve used these products in my own family’s laundry for years, and I want to help you understand the differences so you can choose based on what you actually need.

Caring for Your Norwex Microfiber
If you already own the cloths and your question is simply “How in the world am I supposed to wash these?”, I’ve got you.
This is an area where advice has changed over the years, and I have updated my teaching along with the current information. You do NOT need to be afraid of laundering your Norwex microfiber. In fact, proper laundering is important because we want those fibers clean and ready to do their job.

Norwex Specialty Cleaners
Remember when I said I’m not opposed to cleaners? This is where things get FUN.
While microfiber and water can handle an incredible amount of everyday cleaning, there are absolutely jobs where I want chemistry working on my side. Enzymes, degreasers, Descaler and other specialty products can be fantastic when they’re matched to the right problem.
The key is understanding what you’re trying to clean instead of simply throwing more product at it. Grease, protein-based stains, mineral deposits and everyday soil aren’t necessarily the same problem, so they don’t always need the same solution.

How Do I Know Which Norwex Products Are Actually Worth Buying?
This is a REALLY important question—and one I want you to feel comfortable asking.
I am a Norwex Consultant. I have built a significant Norwex business over the past 17+ years, and I obviously love these products. But that doesn’t mean I think every single Norwex product is equally necessary for every single person.
There are Norwex products I absolutely LOVE. There are products I think are especially useful for certain people but unnecessary for others. There are products where I think the value becomes obvious after you’ve used them for years. And yes, over 17+ years there have even been products that weren’t my personal favorites.

Over the years I’ve found that many Norwex problems are actually pretty simple to solve. Sometimes a microfiber cloth has accumulated detergent or other buildup and needs a deeper cleaning. Sometimes too much water is being used. Sometimes there’s residue from a previous cleaner on a surface. Sometimes the product is simply being used differently than it was designed to be used.
And sometimes? A particular product just isn’t the right tool for that particular job.
