How to Clean Toilets with Norwex
Alright, y’all. It’s about to get really real. If you would have told me 15 years ago that I’d be talking about toilets, skid marks, bathroom stink & toilet rings on my public Norwex blog, I would have certainly thought you were smoking something! But, after 12.5 years of helping people troubleshoot all sorts of cleaning challenges, I now know. It’s for real. Everyone poops and we all need to know how to best CLEAN those toilets. Right? So today we’re going to have some #realtalk about #dirtytoilets, #skidmarks, #toiletrings, #bathroomstink & all the things and how to clean toilets with Norwex as at least part of the solution to your toilet cleaning needs. Who’s ready to dive into this lovely topic with me??
How to Clean Toilets with Norwex
Below you’ll find the G-rated, clean version of cleaning toilets. Helpful? I hope so! In this quick video, I show most of the products that we use to clean our toilets. With that said, we’re about to do a deeper dive on toilet cleaning, so hang with me!
Skid Marks
Good times. I hope that when you read “skid marks” above, you thought of this:
Dirty Toilets: The Deeper Dive
But if you did NOT first think of that, but more thought of your toilet, that’s alright, too! The fact is, I’ve learned that sometimes “skid marks” in the toilet are a real thing. Here are some things that have proven helpful.
Head off the skid mark phenomenon.
- Have the Norwex Spray Bottle (either the blue plastic version, great if you have littles who tend to drop things) or the Forever Spray Bottle (if you’re going a bit classier)) with DILUTED Norwex Odor Eliminator. To be honest, prior to our move to Texas, our family strangely really didn’t deal with the “skid mark” problem. I’m not quite sure what changed after the move, but now I understand that the battle is real. Whether it was a different shape of toilet or low-flow flush, or us adjusting to new water and lifestyle (still unsure of the root cause of the change), it was time to have some real talk with the fam on how to deal with them. How do you get rid of the skid marks? When you have the spray bottle of diluted Odor Eliminator handy, it serves a couple of great purposes. It’s handy for any family member to grab to “spray the skids” as the toilet flushes. Secondly, the enzyme properties of this fabulous, super-concentrated product also go to work on “organic matter” and on ODORS that tend to happen in the bathroom.
Next let’s cover how to keep the bathroom odor at bay
- How to keep Bathroom Stink on the down-low. Norwex Toilet Spray. Yes. It really does work to help keep odors DOWN. Always have a Norwex Toilet Spray bottle nearby! Those who care, spray before they go. š Just another great way to love on your fellow humans in the house.
Toilet Rings, anyone?
- Toilet rings. Argh. Again, this can really depend on your water. But another contributing factor, I suppose, on how often the toilet gets flushed (or not) after someone has used it (speaking to moms of children of all ages? I was going to say “littles” but I’m not sure the forgetfulness is only limited to the young ones.) Once a toilet ring has set up house in your porcelain throne, it can be hard to budge. Here’s been my fool-proof solutions to the toilet ring.
- Norwex Descaler (or the Bathroom Cleaner works well, too) is made specifically for hard water build-up. You can pair with the NEW, super scrubby Norwex toilet brush or a Norwex scrubber like the EnviroScrub. The key is to foam the Descaler onto the bowl and let it set a short while to soften the hard water deposits.
- For some of the most stubborn toilet rings, I have personally paired Descaler with a Toilet Pumice Stone. (I think these were the ones I got, but I’m guessing that any toilet pumice will work fine.) It’s important to note that this is not a Norwex-endorsed solution, just something that I’ve found helpful.
- Of course, as with all cleaners, be sure to test a small, inconspicuous area first, as cleaners and surfaces can vary. But this has been the recipe that has worked amazing for us.
General Toilet Cleaning Tools
- And last, but of course not least, general toilet cleaning. You can either dilute the Bathroom Cleaner in the all-in-one Norwex BacLock Toilet Brush System to quickly clean the porcelain bowl. And, of course, an EnviroCloth (I prefer to have a different color that I know is reserved JUST for toilets. It’s simple and helpful to color-code the EnviroCloths in your home) to clean the rest of toilet and surrounding area. If I were really brave, I’d take a video of my boys’ bathroom with the black light and how significantly the Norwex EnviroCloth OUTCLEANS the disinfectant wipe. It’s pretty fabulous (or possibly just pretty gross…). But… I do think I’ll spare you the visual for now. Maybe someday I’ll get that brave. Cheers to keeping our thrones sparkling!
